# Nieuwe Kerkstraat 3D study

September 5, 2026. The model covers both sides of Nieuwe Kerkstraat with 121 building bodies, 11 added photograph-guided fronts, and the seven-front original pilot. It retains all 76 address points and 275 roster entries: 74 street points with 272 entries, plus the two original Weesperstraat points with three entries.

The canonical home is `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/research/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904` on mac-mini-4. This is a local research model. It isn't a measured reconstruction of the street in 1943.

## Current files

- `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/research/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904/index.html` contains the standalone WebGL viewer, embedded geometry, source photographs and fonts. Orbit, overhead and continuous street walking views use the same building meshes as Blender. The companion photo catalogue and download links use the project layout.
- `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/research/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904/Nieuwe_Kerkstraat.blend` is the editable Blender scene with packed images and source notes on objects.
- `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/research/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904/Nieuwe_Kerkstraat.glb` exports the geometry, images and object notes in glTF 2.0 format for other WebGL viewers. Walking controls and the roster interface belong to the HTML viewer.
- `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/research/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904/whole_street.png` shows the current model, not a historical photograph.
- `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/research/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904/model.json` records the people, coordinates, building assumptions and source dates. `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/research/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904/scene_mesh.json` holds the mesh geometry.
- `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/research/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904/street_revision_20260905/all_photos/catalogue/index.html` provides the acquired photograph catalogue.

## Photographs and modeling

The saved Beeldbank street search contains 558 catalogue records. All 433 photograph records and six postcard records were selected, accounting for 584 distinct image assets. The eight Luna max acquisition workers saved 567 assets and reused 17 already verified canonical files. The new downloads include 386 original endpoints and 181 published previews where an original download wasn't offered. These counts cover this saved search, not every photograph that might exist in other collections or under other descriptions. Some records concern surrounding streets or later dates.

Every asset retains its catalogue identity, date, rights wording, source URL, dimensions, size and SHA-256. The independent aggregate check reread all 584 source files and checked all metadata identities and receipts. The primary agent also reread eight sample hashes. No acquisition gaps remained. The combined source bytes total 687,795,829 bytes.

Original archive bytes are held beneath `/Volumes/NaraArchive/sources/stadsarchief_amsterdam/amsterdam_3d_street_20260905/` and the earlier `/Volumes/NaraArchive/sources/stadsarchief_amsterdam/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904/`. Project image paths are symlinks. Embedded photographs in the viewer and packed Blender images are parts of derived models, not replacement archive originals.

Detailed fronts follow visible window divisions, recessed openings, cornices, gables and entrances. Source photos retain their own dates. Absolute widths, heights, relief depths and hidden roofs remain estimates. Numbers 61 and 63 are legible in their undated source; the 16/18 handwriting guides those assignments; only 90 is independently legible in the undated 84–90 source. Other individual assignments remain provisional where the photograph or catalogue doesn't settle them. Photograph texture preserves recorded lighting; it isn't a recovered historical material color. Cropped or obscured areas must remain qualified.

Plain context forms use an assumed 9.6 m height and have no claimed window pattern. Most new frontage widths use bounded midpoints between historical address points, fitted to the street-front band. They aren't individually traced property boundaries. The original seven photographic-front footprints are unchanged. Rear addresses 25 and 27 remain behind the street. Mapped institutional grounds remain open, with their main buildings set back.

## Map dates and names

J5, DUIZ00804000001, is printed October 1943. The eastern ground supplement is J6, DUIZ00825000001, printed August 1945. Its source directory retains an earlier mistaken `k5` label, corrected in the receipt and readings. The 1945 section doesn't establish the wartime condition. An earlier J6 sheet catalogued 1909–1935 is preserved but isn't fitted into the viewer. The Amsterdam control-point dataset's 1943 name doesn't make every included print a 1943 observation. Fit details are in `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/research/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904/GROUND_PLACEMENT.json`.

The roster comes from `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/data/derived/westerbork_sobibor_v4_20260902/public/westerbork_sobibor_amsterdam_map_v24.html`. Exact source fields, uncertainty marks and original point coordinates were preserved. Dots are raised for visibility and don't identify floors. A roster entry isn't proof of departure or a shared fate.

## Rebuild and checks

Revision code, source readings, texture fits, module outputs and reports are held in `/Volumes/Holocaust/projects/Sobibor_Westerbork_Chapter/research/amsterdam_3d_pilot_20260904/street_revision_20260905/`. The preceding viewer and model are preserved in its `before` directory. Older root validation files describe earlier builds; the current checks are `STREET_VALIDATION.json`, `EXPORT_REOPEN_VALIDATION.json`, `BROWSER_VALIDATION.json` and the final storage report.

The build order is `build_street_data.py`, `make_ground.py`, `build_street_blender.py`, then `assemble_street_viewer.py`, followed by validation and actual Blender/GLB reopening. The source viewer is `viewer.html`. Earlier `update_street_viewer.py` and `extend_textures.py` record edits already applied to it and aren't repeatable build steps. Run rendering on an authorized compute host. The user explicitly authorized the small local Blender renders used here.

The eight acquisition and subsequent modeling/review lanes used the requested built-in Codex gpt-5.6-luna route at max effort. Earlier detailed modules used gpt-6-astra at max effort. Requested routes are recorded; backend identifiers weren't exposed. No hosted model API or paid-credit route was used. Full image readings are saved as a derived layer with source paths and hashes.

Read the current validation reports for exact mesh counts and file sizes. These checks establish file and data integrity, not measured historical accuracy. No public deployment was performed.
